Adult care home rules and general statutes for staff to perform medication aide duties in an adult care home, licensed under N.C.G.S. § 131D-2, include the following: N.C.G.S. § 131D-4.5B, 10A NCAC 13F/G .0403 and 10A NCAC 13F/G .0503.
Employer is responsible to ensure for the provision or verification of required state approved medication training courses, verification of work history for exemption of medication training, validation of clinical skills and verifying test results. Employee records are to be maintained with the required documentation for the above requirements, including a record of accessing testing results via the N.C. Adult Care Testing Website.

Medication testing is a requirement for anyone administering medications to residents or performing medication aide duties in an adult care home, licensed under N.C.G.S. § 131D-2, in North Carolina who is not authorized by occupational laws to administer medications.
Verification of individuals who have taken the written medication exam for adult care homes and exam results are available via the N.C. Adult Care Testing Website. An employer is required to keep a record of accessing the testing website. Listing on the website does not qualify an individual to perform medication aide duties in an adult care home. The individuals listed on the N.C. Adult Care Medication Aide Testing Website may not have completed the required state-approved medication training or performed medication aide duties in an adult care home.

If you have taken the medication aide test for the adult care homes, it does not qualify you to pass medications in a nursing home.
