Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Rules

The N.C. Medical Care Commission is proposing these rule adoptions to support the growth in the EMS industry and changes that have occurred with national EMS standards. Minimum manufacturing standards are being established for ground ambulance vehicles used for the transport of emergent and non-emergent patients in North Carolina to ensure ambulances operating in the State are safe and reliable. Medical oversight criteria for air medical programs in North Carolina are being clarified to abide by the terms of a federal court injunction involving the regulation of air medical programs. These rule adoptions will benefit the quality of care and safety provided to the citizens of North Carolina.
