May 30, 2013 - The North Carolina EMS Advisory Council is seeking nominations for the 2014 Dr. George Johnson, Jr. Award (PDF, 144 KB). All nominations must be received by June 30th in order to be reviewed by the EMS Advisory Council (EMSAC) Awards Committee. The recipient(s) selected by the EMS Advisory Council will receive the award on Tuesday evening, October 7, 2014, during the EM-Today banquet. So that I may expedite the review of your nominee, please forward your nominations directly to the attention of Ms. Julie Starr at [email protected]. May 22, 2013 - The 2013 Annual John Burwell Excellence in EMS Award was presented to Brian Edward Booe, EMT-Paramedic of Stokes County. (PDF, 95 KB)
July 3, 2012 - The Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) continues to receive comments regarding the requirement contained in G.S. 20-139.1(d2) for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) to obtain blood or urine samples for chemical analysis when directed by law enforcement officers. June 26, 2012 - Memorandum from Regina Godette-Crawford, Chief of OEMS, announcing the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services has contracted with the University of North Carolina School of Public Health to conduct a comprehensive assessment of Emergency Medical Services regulatory functions, Healthcare/Disaster Preparedness, and the State Trauma System (PDF, 69 KB).
November 30, 2011 - N.C. Office of Emergency Medical Services recently printed an informational brochure for its newly developed EMS Credential Personnel Chemical Dependency Recovery & Rehabilitation Program (PDF, 5.19 MB). This brochure outlines how the program works and who to contact for further information.
October 12, 2011 - National Registry has recently sent information to NREMT-Paramedics to "contact their state office" regarding the availability of a transition course to renew National Registry certification. NCOEMS is working with the NC Association of EMS educators, NC Community College Educators and the NC EMS Agency Educators to develop a transition course to satisfy National Registry requirements and to develop guidelines regarding the new EMS education standards. We hope to have additional information regarding the transition course and guidelines sent out to all NC EMS stakeholders by mid 2012.
